took our friends who were visiting us from Germany to Galitos. They expressed to me that during their 2 week visit in the US. they experienced their most enjoyable meal at Galitos. Our friends are sophisticated world travelers. The husband is a famous cartoonist. I trust their judgement. We have been frequenting this out of the way restaurant for many years now and always enjoy the food, service and ambiance.

A few weeks ago I had my first dinner in Galitos after the return of Chopped Chef Luisa Fernandes as its Exceutive Chef. I was glad to see that the food quality is outstanding. The service was friendly & helpful. Galitos does provide a very authentic Portuguese food experience. On Fridays do not miss their special buffet option: 12 appetizers, 6 main dishes and desserts for $20 per person plus live music.

The food and ambience at the Friday night buffet were so tired and depressing that I shifted to the (empty) dining room with menu and tablecloth. Here I had a reasonably good seafood cataplana but with pathetic accompaniments. Never again. Drive on up to Docas in Ossining for a solid and cheery Portuguese experience.
