"Lighthouse Ice Cream Kompanies at Hudsor Harbor, Tarrytown, NY opened its doors on a sunny May day in 2011 to offer pure and delicious, handcrafted ice cream, gelato, sorbets, coffee, espresso, pastry and soup made from the highest quality ingredients, sourced from the area’s very best providers.

"All of the goodies are made on-site and in small batches, so you’re always guaranteed the freshest, most savory and best quality products. Lighthouse ice cream is made with great care with farm fresh, organic dairy from Battenkill Creamery and our coffee is of the finest quality from our friends at Fortuna Coffee.

"Lighthouse Ice Cream Kompany is conveniently located just steps away from the Tarrytown train station and the Riverwalk at Hudson Harbor in Tarrytown, NY. There is plenty of parking available and plenty of tables to sit by the fountain and enjoy the day at our European style piazza. Go ahead, bring the family to enjoy the delicious treats and a leisurely walk by the river while the children play at the Tarrytown recreation facility across the street."

"Lighthouse Ice Cream Kompany was started by Joe Slakas after many years of home ice cream production. Cooking has been a passion since he was a teenager. He was inspired by his grandmother, “a truly awful cook. Being Irish her best recipe was simple: Place meat and potatoes in pot. Boil till gray. Serve.” He learned from friends parents and grandparents and took his first of many restaurant jobs at 16 washing dishes in the famous Castle Hill Diner in the Bronx, NY. Cooking became a serious hobby once he began a career in politics and public relations. With the opening of Lighthouse Ice Cream, he is able to take his passion to serve the best to his friends and family to a larger audience.

"Joe and the entire staff extend a cordial invitation to visit them at the Hudson Harbor in Tarrytown to savor their handcrafted goodies… we promise, you’ll be back for more."

The word is The ice cream is pure and delicious and even the waffle cones are homemade. The texture of the gelato is perfect with a good selection of flavors.

When having 'chemical' ice cream (served in most ice cream shops) you are eating a cold mix of chemicals - Easy to serve 50 flavors when you simple add another chemical ingredient into the vat and call it a new ice cream flavor.
